Boombastic 1 and 2 — overview of the main boats of DMC operator Boombastic

29/03/2026

The boats of DMC operator Boombastic are more than just a means of getting out on the ocean — they are a fully equipped platform for professional fishing, expeditions, and long-range trips.

The project was built on years of experience, taking into account the specific conditions of the Indian Ocean and the real-world tasks the team faces daily — from fishing charters to water transfers across the Seychelles.

This article covers how the boats were built, what sets them apart from other vessels, how the team operates, and why Boombastic 1 and Boombastic 2 have become some of the most technologically advanced and versatile boats in the region.

How were the Boombastic boats built?

In reality, this idea is the result of years of accumulated experience traveling across different countries. Additionally, the specific conditions of the Seychelles waters played a key role: the local ocean conditions are quite demanding and require a unique approach to vessel selection.

Initially, we worked with boats up to 40 feet in length, organizing fishing charters and water transfers across the Seychelles. But over time, it became clear that for our tasks, this was no longer sufficient. So we decided to increase the size of the boats — and that turned out to be critically important, especially for long-range trips.

And long-range trips are part of our daily routine: we regularly cover 30 to 50 miles one way. Accordingly, the entire concept of Boombastic was built around efficiency and comfort underway, even in the rather challenging conditions of the Indian Ocean.

As a result, we chose a boat capable of maintaining a steady cruising speed of around 30–32 knots, while also offering high autonomy. Today, such a boat can travel approximately 500 miles one way on a single tank of fuel.

How are the Boombastic boats different from other vessels?

3_Катер_Boombastic_Сейшелы.jpg

First of all, in the Seychelles, there are practically no boats with a Walkaround-style hull around 44 feet (13.4 meters) in length — you could say they simply don't exist.

Secondly, to be honest, the local fleet mostly consists of quite old and not very well-maintained boats. Many of them are in visibly worn-out condition — and that becomes immediately apparent once you're on the water.

Against this backdrop, Boombastic 1 and Boombastic 2 stand out significantly. These boats have strong, well-balanced hulls that were originally designed with comfort in mind. This helps to minimize rocking — both during crossings and while fishing.

And this is one of the key points: almost all our anglers immediately note that while on board, they can really feel how much the side-to-side roll is reduced.

At the same time, the boats are equipped with no special stabilizers or additional motion-dampening systems. This effect is achieved solely through smart design and proper hull balance.

What engines are used on the Boombastic boats?

All our boats — specifically Boombastic 1 and Boombastic 2 — are equipped with Suzuki engines.

We chose this brand intentionally: it has proven to be reliable and easy to maintain. Plus, we have quick access to all necessary spare parts, which is critical for uninterrupted operation.

Each boat features a combination of four engines, each delivering 300 horsepower. Together, this provides an optimal power reserve for the large and heavy Boombastic boats, allowing them to handle any conditions with confidence.

There's no need to dive into deep technical details — that's not what truly matters to most people. The key point is that these engines fully meet our requirements and are perfectly suited for our operations, whether it's fishing charters or water transfers across the Seychelles.

Range and endurance

One of the main advantages of the Boombastic boats is their range and impressive endurance.

Today, we can comfortably go out to distances of up to 200–250 miles on a single tank of fuel, complete our tasks, and return without any issues. These are, in essence, our maximum working distances. The boats can also easily accompany the cruising catamaran when it heads out on long-range fishing tours in the Seychelles.

In normal operation, we work at distances of 50–70 miles one way — and this happens without any limitations or difficulties.

But the key point is that, if necessary, we can undertake truly long-range trips. For example, heading to remote islands where it would be impossible to have the boat delivered by tow. In such cases, we comfortably cover up to 300 miles one way, maintaining comfort and confidence in the vessel.

The fuel capacity (2500 liters) is sufficient for the return journey, and the fresh water supply (200 liters) is more than enough for any tasks during the trip.

That's why endurance is not just a spec sheet feature — it's one of the key advantages of the boats of DMC operator Boombastic.

What fishing styles are the Boombastic boats suitable for?

Originally, they were designed as versatile vessels capable of handling virtually any type of fishing — from trolling to fly fishing.

In practice, this has proven to be entirely true. Today, we actively use a variety of techniques: trolling, jigging, popping, as well as deep‑sea fishing — using both conventional and electric reels.

When needed, we also organize fly fishing trips. However, most often we focus on offshore fishing — what is known as blue water fishing — where the main target is pelagic fish in deep waters.

It is also important that all the boats are fully equipped for these tasks: on board, you'll find all the necessary gear, tackle, and lures for any style of fishing. This provides flexibility and allows us to adapt to the conditions and the preferences of our guests — and it is undoubtedly another significant advantage of Boombastic.

Why Is Stand-Up Fishing Used Instead of a Fighting Chair?

7_Катер_Boombastic_Сейшелы.jpg

On our main 44-foot fishing boats, as well as on the 39-foot version, there is no fighting chair for landing fish while trolling — particularly when targeting marlin.

First of all, there simply isn’t a suitable spot for such a chair without compromising the overall ergonomics of the boat. But that’s not the only reason.

We chose a different approach from the start: we practice fighting large fish in a stand-up format — that is, standing. The angler is equipped with a specialized belt and harness system to secure the gear — everything needed for control and safety is in place.

With this approach, our guests experience far more intense sensations and a direct connection with the fish — something that simply cannot be achieved from a fighting chair.

Yes, using a chair is certainly easier. But for us, this is a matter of philosophy. Even in trolling, we aim to give the angler maximum excitement and full involvement in the process.

What navigation and technical equipment are installed on the boats?

The Boombastic boats are currently equipped with all the modern equipment necessary for safe and efficient operation in the ocean.

First and foremost, this includes a state‑of‑the‑art navigation system, radar, and a night vision camera that allows confident navigation even in the dark. The boats are also fitted with a powerful fish finder, which plays a key role in locating fish.

Special mention should be made of the fishing equipment: the boats are equipped with dedicated electrical systems to support electric reels, which is especially important for deep‑sea fishing.

Additionally, the boats have everything needed for communication and comfort — a VHF radio, a high‑quality audio system, as well as AIS transmit and receive capabilities, which are critical for safety on the water.

Overall, in terms of equipment and technology, Boombastic today stands well above most boats in the Seychelles.

What comfort features are available on board?

Despite their strong fishing-oriented character, our boats are also thoughtfully designed with comfort in mind.

First and foremost, it's about the atmosphere: good music and high-quality sound set the right mood throughout the trip. If needed, guests can also use high-speed Starlink internet.

In terms of basic amenities, everything you need is on board: a full bathroom, fresh water, and outdoor freshwater showers. There are two sinks, making it easy to wash hands, rinse food, and handle anything else needed during the trip.

For relaxation, large comfortable cushions are provided, allowing guests to settle in comfortably while reducing the feeling of vibration and motion from the waves. Special awnings create a generous shaded area, offering protection from the sun throughout the day.

The result is a perfect balance: on one hand, a fully functional fishing platform; on the other, a comfortable space for extended time on the ocean and water transfers across the Seychelles.

How does the Boombastic team operate during a fishing trip?

10_Катер_Boombastic2_Сейшелы_5.jpg

Depending on the chosen fishing program, the team on board may consist of two or three people. This always includes a captain and one or two deckhands.

For example, when fishing for marlin, where speed of reaction and seamless coordination are especially critical, a three‑person team is used. The captain handles the boat, while the deckhands manage everything related to the gear and guest interaction.

They set up and adjust the tackle, monitor the fishing process, and assist guests during the fight. In addition, they are also responsible for service: offering water and food, maintaining cleanliness, and preparing the restroom.

Throughout the fishing trip, the deckhands regularly clean the deck, prepare the tackle, change lures, remove fish from hooks, and — if necessary — pack the catch or carefully release it. They also help guests with photos and do everything possible to ensure the process is as comfortable and well‑organized as possible.

Currently, the crew on board is English‑speaking, but as experience shows, guests and the team quickly find common ground — even without perfect English.

What trophies are caught on Boombastic?

11_Катер_Boombastic_Сейшелы_3.jpg

The variety of trophies depends directly on the fishing format, but overall, the capabilities of the boats cover an extremely wide range of fishing.

First and foremost, this includes offshore fishing: marlin, sailfish, and other billfish species. Tuna fishing is also highly productive.

When it comes to jigging and deep‑sea fishing, regular catches include groupers, snappers, amberjacks, and other powerful bottom-dwelling species.

A separate category is reef fishing: trevally, barracuda, and other active predators.

Altogether, the list of trophies already exceeds 30 species.

What's more, in several fishing categories, guests together with the Boombastic teams have already set multiple official IGFA records, which are registered in the international record book.
