The Nexus 60 Boombastic cruising catamaran: cruises, fishing, and expeditions in comfort

21/03/2026

The Seychelles are not only about beach holidays, but also offer unique opportunities for marine expeditions, fishing, and journeys to remote islands.

To operate such routes, our team faced a specific challenge — to find not just a leisure yacht for cruising in the Seychelles, but a well-designed platform that combines onboard comfort, autonomy, and reliability for long-distance passages.

In this article, we explain in detail why the Nexus 60 cruising catamaran has become the ideal vessel for our expeditions, what advantages it offers to guests, and which routes across the Seychelles it is designed for.

Why We Chose the Nexus 60 for Expeditions in the Seychelles

One of the key reasons for choosing this particular catamaran was its optimal size and well-thought-out design. With a length of 60 feet, it provides ample onboard space for both guests and crew, which is especially important for multi-day expeditions around the Seychelles.

The catamaran’s wide beam (8.7 meters) ensures excellent stability both during passages and at anchor, creating a feeling comparable to staying in a hotel.

On board, there are four spacious guest cabins that can comfortably accommodate up to eight people. In addition, separate crew quarters are thoughtfully arranged.

In the format of cruise expeditions with Boombastic, this plays an important role. Alongside the catamaran crew, the expedition also includes a team operating fishing boats, and comfortable accommodation is provided for everyone without compromising space or privacy.

The vessel’s technical condition also deserves special attention.

Our Nexus 60 underwent a full refit in 2023, ensuring the reliability of all systems during long passages. The electrical system, in particular, has been intelligently designed: it is based on battery banks that store energy, allowing the air conditioning system to operate without the constant use of a generator.

This solution provides one of the most important advantages at night — silence on board. In a marine living environment, this is a critical factor that directly affects the quality of rest. Both guests and crew can enjoy proper sleep and fully recover after active days on the water.

What Routes the Boombastic Nexus 60 Catamaran Is Used For

Most often, we operate the catamaran in the waters of the Amirantes Islands* — one of the most remote and fascinating regions of the Seychelles archipelago.

*The Amirantes Islands are an archipelago in the western Indian Ocean, forming part of the Republic of Seychelles. This group of coral islands and atolls belongs to the Outer Islands of Seychelles. The archipelago lies northeast of Madagascar, approximately 300 km southwest of the main Seychelles islands.

These маршруты require confident long-distance passages and the ability to live on board for several days without entering ports.

This is exactly where the key advantages of the catamaran become evident:

  • fuel capacity that allows the vessel to operate comfortably for more than a week and cover distances of over 300 miles one way;
  • the presence of watermakers, ensuring a stable supply of fresh water;
  • high autonomy of all onboard systems;
  • comfortable accommodation for both guests and the full crew.

At the same time, it is important to understand the core principle behind Boombastic cruise expeditions. Fishing is not conducted directly from the catamaran. Light trolling during passages is possible, but it is not the primary use case.

The main concept is different: the catamaran serves as a fully equipped expedition base, while the fishing itself is entirely carried out using specialized Boombastic fishing boats.

This approach provides several key advantages:

  • the catamaran remains a comfortable space for relaxation;
  • fishing takes place on professionally equipped boats;
  • modern electronics and specialized gear are used;
  • experienced crews focused specifically on fishing work with guests.

In this format, the Nexus cruising catamaran functions as a “floating hotel” — transporting guests to the right locations, providing comfortable accommodation, and creating a stable base for the entire expedition.

This division of roles makes our cruise experiences in the Seychelles more efficient and enjoyable: during the day, guests are fully immersed in activities on the water, and in the evening, they return to a शांत, comfortable environment for rest and recovery.

The catamaran is a key element of the entire Boombastic expedition system in the Seychelles.

Guest Comfort During Expeditions

The Nexus 60 is a catamaran with well-thought-out ergonomics.

For its class, it offers spacious cabins with large double beds. Each cabin is equipped with an individual air conditioning system, as well as full en-suite bathrooms with showers, allowing every guest to freshen up quickly and comfortably at any time.

In an expedition format, days are usually active: guests spend time fishing, out at sea, or relaxing on deck. This is why quality nighttime rest becomes especially important. The ability to sleep well in a cool, quiet, and well-organized cabin has a direct impact on the overall travel experience.

At the same time, it is important to understand that the Nexus 60 is not a classic luxury catamaran in the high-end sense. Its strength lies not in visual extravagance, but in practicality, reliability, and intelligent use of space.

It is best suited for guests who value real performance characteristics over superficial luxury. During long passages, the following factors become decisive:

  • stable and reliable operation of all onboard systems;
  • sufficient space across the decks;
  • comfortable and functional cabins;
  • well-designed vessel ergonomics.

In these aspects, the Boombastic Nexus 60 proves itself to be a highly successful and well-balanced model. It has no obvious weak points — it is a reliable working platform that has been tested in numerous expeditions.

At the same time, the catamaran remains highly versatile. It is suitable not only for multi-day routes, but also for day trips such as:

  • island-hopping sea excursions;
  • private events;
  • trips with larger groups.

The only aspect to keep in mind is that the Nexus 60 does not aim to deliver an ultra-luxury experience. It is not about excess, but about comfort, functionality, and efficiency at sea.

And it is precisely this balance that makes it the right choice for a catamaran journey in the Seychelles.

Main Technical Specifications of the Nexus 60 Cruising Catamaran

The design of the Nexus 60 focuses not only on size and comfort, but also on structural strength for operation in demanding ocean conditions:

  • The hull is built using epoxy composite with vacuum infusion and a Corecell foam core, providing high strength with relatively low weight.
  • Carbon-reinforced bulkheads and internal longitudinal beams increase hull rigidity and improve seaworthiness.
  • The interior is designed for extended stays on board and includes amenities comparable to a conventional home — a spacious saloon, a fully equipped galley (kitchen), separate cabins, and bathrooms.
  • The main load-bearing crossbeams are integrated داخل the hull rather than mounted externally, as is common on many vessels of this type, enhancing structural integrity and overall efficiency.

Most of the living space is centered around the saloon and cockpit, creating a strong sense of openness and seamless connection between relaxation, dining, and navigation areas.

The Nexus cruising catamaran offers solid seaworthiness:

  • Thanks to its powerful sail plan and hull design, it performs efficiently both under sail and on engine power.
  • The typical cruising speed under engine is around 9–12 knots, which is standard for ocean-going catamarans of this class.

General Layout

The galley on the Nexus 60 is located in the saloon on the port side. It includes a stove, refrigerator, double sink, work surfaces, and a bar counter. A window above the galley opens directly into the cockpit, making it easy to serve meals.

The living area is seamlessly connected with the cockpit, creating a bright and open space. Large panoramic windows provide uninterrupted views of the surroundings and allow plenty of natural light inside.

This area also features a dining table where up to eight people can be comfortably seated.
