Things to do on Eden Island: what to visit in Seychelles

15/05/2026

Eden Island is the only artificial island in the Seychelles, built on a dead coral reef off the eastern coast of Mahé.

It is connected to the main island by a bridge approximately 200 meters long and is located about 4 km from the capital, Victoria, and 7 km from the international airport. You can get there by taxi from the airport in 10–15 minutes.

This man‑made paradise covers more than 40 hectares of land, with an additional 16 hectares dedicated to private water canals.

Today, Eden Island is a gated luxury community featuring villas, apartments, a yacht marina, restaurants, and shops. There is no usual city noise here — instead, it offers the unique atmosphere of a tropical resort, where people come for tranquility, the sea, and gastronomic delights.

The island boasts nearly 600 high‑end properties: from apartments to spacious two‑story townhouses and private villas. All homes face the water and are equipped with private docks.

The island is included on the list of must‑visit places and ranks among the top attractions of the Seychelles.

Eden Plaza shopping center

The only full‑fledged shopping center in the entire Seychelles archipelago. It houses around 50 stores — including clothing boutiques and souvenir shops, restaurants, cafés, a pharmacy, banking services, and a SPAR supermarket (one of the best in terms of selection on Mahé).

Prices at SPAR are above average, but the range — especially of delicacies and imported products — is the widest on the island. Keep in mind that some stores are closed on Sundays.

The mall has a paid underground parking lot (the first 30 minutes are free). You will also find here: a spa, a medical clinic, a gym, a casino, a fishing tackle shop, a currency exchange office, and other useful facilities.

How to get there: by taxi from Victoria — about 10 minutes; tell the driver "Eden Plaza, Eden Island." You can also take a bus to Victoria and then take a taxi from there.

Entry to the mall itself is free. Prices in the shops and restaurants range from moderate to premium.

Yachts from all over the world are always moored here — a stroll along the docks is a spectacle in itself, and if you take a water transfer around the Seychelles, you can admire the marina from the ocean with stunning views.

Adjacent to the marina is Marina Village — a pedestrian promenade with shops, bars, and restaurants. It is the best spot on the island for a leisurely evening: sunset over the water, fresh seafood, and an atmosphere of light Mediterranean languor.
