An absolutely unreal record by our guests and Boombastic Tours
Our friendly fishing tournament in the Outer Islands has delivered a new record.
Yesterday, our guests together with the Boombastic Tours team brought up a 244 cm black marlin from a depth of 46 meters, using tackle rated up to 8 PE and a jig weighing just 150 grams.
When this powerful fish burst out of the water just twenty meters from the boat, it was hard to believe what we were seeing. The first thought was that it had to be a sailfish — it was easier to believe that, as it would mean better chances of landing it. But reality turned out to be far more serious: it was a marlin.
What’s even more incredible is that our guest managed to land the fish alone. In situations like this, the outcome is usually predictable — either the line snaps, or all the line is completely spooled out.
This result is a rare combination of luck, skill, and endurance. We sincerely congratulate our guest and are proud of the outstanding teamwork of the Boombastic Tours crew.
As for the overall results of the multi-day friendly fishing tournament in the Outer Islands, the trophy list is as follows:
- Unusual or very rare fish — Black Marlin 244 cm
- GT — 122 cm
- Red Bass — 75 cm
- Dogtooth Tuna — 108 cm
- Yellowfin Tuna (YFT) — 102 cm
- Wahoo — 140 cm
- Jobfish — 91 cm
- Grouper — 127 cm
- Sailfish — 238 cm
During the tournament, the team not only mastered a new deep-water fishing technique at depths of 140–180 meters and caught numerous trophy Ruby snapper and impressive groupers, but also achieved an almost unbelievable record by landing a black marlin on jig.
We look forward to welcoming you on board Boombastic boats.
