Fishing tournament in Namibia: desert, ocean and real sports excitement

05/02/2026

It wasn't just cool — it was absolutely vertical!

A huge thank you to my team for their work and the level of organization we managed to maintain throughout the entire program, and to our partners for their reliability, efficiency, and readiness to quickly resolve any issues on the spot.

Just the gala dinner alone was something else. Imagine this: they practically transported a full-fledged restaurant right into the desert. With a kitchen, furniture, tableware, service, and all the necessary infrastructure — down to mobile toilets. In such conditions, that is particularly impressive.

Namibia's nature amazed us. There's an incredible combination of scale and minimalism here: vast open spaces, the soft lines of sand dunes, and an almost complete absence of unnecessary details.

At the same time, the country itself turned out to be very comfortable for travel. Excellent roads, clear infrastructure, good service, and, importantly, a feeling of safety.

Special mention must be made of the cuisine. The level of restaurants and catering we experienced during the fishing trip was, perhaps, the best I have ever seen in Africa.

The work of the fishing guides also deserves respect. The guys are truly passionate about what they do, know the coastline inside out, and work with full commitment.

At a certain point, the competitive spirit among the participants ran so high that we even had to slightly adjust the tournament rules. When friendly rivalry emerges, the atmosphere immediately becomes even more exciting.

To be honest, this trip could be the subject of more than one report. There's plenty to talk about separately: the country itself, the logistics, the fishing, and the many small details that ultimately create the overall impression.

There won't be many photos with fish, unfortunately, due to privacy concerns and the sheer impossibility of keeping track of six teams spread out for miles along the coast.
