GUIDE: SEYCHELLES HOLIDAYS — WHEN TO GO, WHAT TO CHOOSE, AND HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF IT
Why This Guide Matters
Boombastic Tours is a premium DMC operator based in Seychelles. We don’t just know the islands — we live and work here year-round. From organizing professional sport fishing with champions to chef-led cruises, island weddings, and full-service villa vacations, we create journeys shaped by local knowledge and personal connections.
This guide isn’t just about weather. It’s a practical handbook to help you choose the best time to visit, understand the seasons and regional differences, and avoid common pitfalls when booking your ideal trip.
SEYCHELLES CLIMATE AND SEASONS
Seychelles is a year-round destination. Air temperatures stay between 28–32°C, and water temperatures remain a pleasant 27–29°C throughout the year.
But conditions like humidity, wind, and sea currents vary by month — and those shifts affect activities such as fishing, cruising, and diving.
FISHING SEASON: SEPTEMBER TO MAY
September through May is trophy fishing season, with ideal sea conditions and high catch rates. This is when you can expect to land:
-
blue marlin
-
sailfish
-
yellowfin tuna
-
wahoo
June to August is the off-season for fishing — rougher seas reduce comfort and results. We pause fishing operations during this time to maintain our quality promise. It’s the perfect season for land-based adventures, beach time, and sightseeing instead.
Want a custom fishing experience? Let us know and we’ll design it just for you.
FOR HONEYMOONS AND ROMANTIC ESCAPES
Best months: April, May, October.
Why:
-
calm seas and crystal-clear waters
-
fewer tourists
-
dramatic sunsets and soft light
-
better rates in shoulder seasons
Possible downsides: some humidity and occasional tropical showers. But this adds to the lush, romantic atmosphere.
Need a private villa or an island wedding? We’ll take care of every detail.
FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN
Recommended seasons:
-
July–August (dry, stable weather)
-
December–January (holiday break)
Benefits:
-
warm but comfortable climate
-
many hotels offer kids’ clubs and babysitting
-
lots of outdoor activities and nature trips
Watch out for:
-
waves and stronger currents during the windy season (not ideal for swimming in all areas)
-
high prices during Christmas and New Year
Ask us about child-friendly resorts, villas, or tailored family itineraries.
ACTIVE HOLIDAYS AND NATURE TRIPS
May to September is perfect for:
-
hiking and nature walks
-
snorkeling with great visibility
-
diving and offshore fishing
Note: the southeast trade winds can affect beach swimming in certain areas — but we’ll help you find sheltered spots with calm waters.
WELLNESS, YOGA, DIGITAL DETOX
November to March is ideal for a reset:
-
fewer crowds
-
warm sea and tropical fruits
-
spa programs, massage, yoga retreats
-
peaceful rhythm and natural calm
Occasional downpours and higher humidity are part of the island experience — perfect for slowing down and reconnecting.
Planning a wellness retreat or yoga group? We’ll organize the full program.
SUMMER TIPS: JUNE TO AUGUST
Though summer months are dry and cooler, the sea can be choppy — not ideal for those prone to seasickness. Cruising may not be comfortable during this time, but it’s a great season for:
-
hiking and inland tours
-
island exploration
-
affordable stays
Bonus: Many hotels offer big discounts in summer, making it a budget-friendly time to visit.
FESTIVE SEASON AND NEW YEAR
Mid-December to mid-January is peak festive season.
What to expect:
-
soaring prices
-
fully booked villas and resorts (often 4–6 months in advance)
-
limited yacht and cruise availability
Planning a holiday for Christmas or New Year’s? Book as early as possible — especially for private villas and boats.
